St Johnstone ran out convincing victors over their rivals as two goals in the last 10 minutes sent Saints fans home happy.
The first goal came from a free kick in the 31st minute. David Hannah delivered the ball into the box and when it was flicked on by the head of Ian Maxwell, Peter MacDonald chased the ball down before firing a volley into the foot of the net. The second goal came 10 minutes from the end.
After Hannah was sent down the right by Baxter, his low cross was well controlled by Moore who was able to squeeze his low shot past David McEwan and into the far corner of the net. Two minutes later, St Johnstone added a third from another Hannah free kick, his ball into the box was controlled by Moore who set up Kevin Rutkiewicz. The big defender's shot was well struck but McEwan parried brilliantly to deny him.
St Johnstone were not to be denied though as substitute Chris Hay beat the defence to the rebound and struck the ball into the net to complete victory. Also St Johnstone deserved to win, Hamilton boss, Alan Maitland will no doubt feel the score line flattered the hosts.
